Choosing the Right TV for Your Organization and Meeting Room

Today, TVs are no longer used only for home entertainment. They have become an important part of modern offices, meeting rooms, training rooms, and shared corporate spaces. When selecting a TV for business use, organizations should consider more than just screen size and price. Usage, room lighting, and viewing distance are equally important to ensure the display is suitable for the environment.

Consumer TV vs. Commercial Display
Consumer TVs are primarily designed for home entertainment, such as watching movies, streaming content, or gaming. They focus on picture quality and entertainment features and are generally suitable for environments where usage hours and lighting conditions can be controlled.

In contrast, Commercial Displays are designed for business environments where reliability and extended operation are important. Depending on the model, Hotel TVs support up to 16 hours per day, 7 days a week (16/7), while Commercial Displays support 24/7 operation. They are also designed with features such as improved thermal management, landscape and portrait installation, remote display management, and settings protection.

Some Commercial Displays also feature anti-glare surfaces, which help reduce reflections from windows and indoor lighting. This can improve visibility and readability in meeting rooms and other bright environments.

Which Display Should Your Organization Choose?
The right choice depends on the intended use and budget. For a small meeting room used for only a few hours per day, a Hotel TV may provide a cost-effective solution. For displays that require longer operating hours or are installed in bright environments, a Commercial Display may be a more suitable choice.

Choosing the Right TV Size
Screen size should not be determined by the number of seats alone. The distance between the screen and the furthest viewer should also be considered to ensure presentations, text, and other content remain easy to read

Room Size / Capacity Recommended TV Size
Small Room – 4 seats 55–65 inches
Medium Room – 6–8 seats 65–75 inches
Large Room – 10–14 seat 75–85 inches, 1-2 displays

For video conferencing rooms, two displays can be used to show presentations on one screen and meeting participants on the other, providing a better meeting experience.

For larger spaces such as Training Rooms, Town Halls, or Auditoriums, organizations may consider projectors, large-format displays, or LED displays to provide an appropriate viewing experience.

Ultimately, the best display is not necessarily the largest or least expensive. It is the one that best matches the room, usage, lighting conditions, viewing distance, and overall AV system, providing long-term value and reliable performance.
